About Me

Hello! My name is Aidan Krieger. I'm a violinist from Southfield, MI, and I love music.

I always say that I owe my passion for music to my parents. My Dad is a singer-songwriter, whose voice, guitar, and piano have been filling my house for as long as I can remember. He would sometimes sing duets with my Mom, who also fed my musical fire, on car rides filled with Billy Joel, The Wings, Joni Mitchell, Adele, and much more.

Classical music became a passion of mine almost out of nowhere. I started playing violin in public school when I was in fifth grade, and immediately knew I had found something special. I always loved music, but when I started the violin, I found not only a way to convey my love of music, but also a place to freely express myself, which I desperately needed as a nerdy middle school kid. Playing in orchestra tapped into emotions that I didn't even know I had, that only music can express.

I spent my first two years of high school at home, and then I went to Interlochen Arts Academy in northern Michigan (my favorite place on Earth) for my junior and senior years. In the spring of 2025, I finished my undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in violin performance, and I’m now back at U of M pursuing two master’s degrees in violin performance and chamber music, studying with Prof. Fabiola Kim.

I love classical music more than anything, but I can't give up the folk music that I grew up on! I’m also in a band. Second Things First, a group of three fiddle players and a bassist, works to combine our classical sensitivities and technical training with our shared love of traditional fiddle music. Our first EP will be recorded by Summer 2026!
